HICKSVILLE, Long Island, N.Y. — A three-car collision near the intersection of North Broadway and Bethpage Road in Hicksville injured three. The crash spread debris across the road surface and caused fuel to spill as well. Nassau County Police and volunteer firefighters from the Hicksville Volunteer Fire Department raced to the location of the crash around 1:00 p.m. Ambulances from the Nassau County Police Department brought two people to the hospital, and another person went to the hospital by Hicksville Ambulance according to the Hicksville Patch. The cleanup of the debris from the crash forced crews to block traffic for a long stretch, which caused massive traffic congestion.
The auto accident in Hicksville occurred just in front of a gas station. The Hicksville Patch posted photos of the scene. The photographs show a small black car with heavy front-end damage immediately behind a bluish minivan. The green minivan sustained moderate damage to the rear bumper and tailgate area. The minivan also appeared to have been forced into the rear bumper of a white box utility truck. None of the photos provided showed damage to the utility truck.
The front-end damage to the black sedan was extensive. The entire front end was crushed in upon impact. The collision caused a fuel spill from the black car. Fortunately, no fire erupted. Firefighters contained the spill by spreading a granular mixture that absorbs and prevents the spread of fluids released from cars involved in an accident.
The photos show the vehicles are not directly behind each other. Rather, the pictures show that the black sedan could have just taken a righthand turn from the gas station and hit the rear of the minivan. The police did not provide any information concerning the cause of the accident. Additionally, the police did not say which vehicles in which the injured people rode. There was no update available concerning their injuries.
