BROOKLYN, NY – A news report on abc7ny.com stated that three people were injured in an accident involving an NYPD police vehicle and a Ford Explorer in Brooklyn, New York. The Ford Explorer’s driver allegedly tried to drive around traffic when the driver crashed into the police cruiser on Coney Island Avenue. The accident occurred at around 7:30 in the evening. The Ford Explorer then skid into a light pole, knocking it down.
The 29-year-old Ford Explorer driver was treated for non-life-threatening accident injures. The two NYPD officers who were in the police car were also injured in the accident.
The driver is facing several traffic violations and criminal charges, including reckless driving, reckless endangerment, unauthorized colored lights on the vehicle, equipment violation, improper use of amber light, failure to obey traffic device, right of way violation to an emergency motor vehicle, traffic device violation, imprudent speed, colliding with an emergency vehicle, and a license plate violation.
