Bruckner expressway
BRONX, N.Y. — A violent collision on the Bruckner Expressway in the Bronx between two vehicles sent two to the hospital with serious injuries. According to the Bronx Times, the accident happened on at 2:55 p.m. and the New York City Police Department’s Highway Collision Investigation Squad responded to the crash site to initiate an investigation. The assigned detectives continue to work on the case. They have not issued any criminal charges by way of a summons or arrest. However, their investigation is not complete. They did not give a deadline for wrapping up their inquiry.
According to the preliminary investigation conducted by NYPD Collision Squad Detectives, a female noted to by 54-years-of-age drove a 2012 Nissan easterly in the left lane of the Expressway. As the woman approached the Castle Hill exit, a man in his late twenties driving a 2016 Nissan was heading easterly on the Expressway in the middle lane, attempted to merge into the left travel lane after passing the 2012 Nissan. However, when the 29-year-old motorist overtook the 54-year-old woman, she lost control over her car when the two vehicles collided.
After the collision, the female operator spun out and struck the median strip in the center of the road and flipped over. The 2016 Nissan continued and crashed into another median area. The vehicle then came to a stop.
Police and EMS rushed to the scene. Medics transported a 54-year-old male who was riding in the overturned 2012 Nissan as well as the 29-year-old operator of the 2016 Nissan to Jacobi Medical Center for treatment. Jacobi Medical Center listed both injured parties as in stable condition. Police did not update their current medical conditions. NYPD’s accident reconstruction officers from the Highway Collision Investigation Squad have not issued any summonses or made any arrests in the case. However, that could change depending upon the outcome of their investigation. The investigating detectives did not say when their final report would be submitted.
