An early morning accident in East Meadow, Long Island involving two vehicles left two people dead. The accident happened on northbound Wantagh State Parkway just south of exit W2 when one vehicle struck the rear of another vehicle. The collision caused the vehicle in front to leave the road and crash into a tree. The vehicle then caught fire. Following the accident, all northbound lanes of Wantagh State Parkway from Hempstead Turnpike to Old Country Road at Exit 2 were closed for five hours.
Local police state that two people were pronounced dead at the scene of the accident.
