Wrong-Way Crash On New York Road. A wrong-way crash on an upstate New York road caused one motorist to suffer fatal injuries, Associated Press reports. According to State Troopers, a 24-year old man of Montgomery was driving the wrong way on Route 17 in the Sullivan County town of Mamakating. He was driving east in the westbound lanes at about 9:15 p.m. on December 28 when he collided head-on with another car; the driver was a 24-year-old man from Vestal. The accident occurred just east of Exit 113. The Vestal driver was transported to a hospital via helicopter and suffered non-life-threatening injuries.
After The Accident A Section Of Route 17 Was Closed
For about two hours after the accident, a section of Route 17 was closed. State Police are asking anyone who saw the car driving the wrong-way to call them at 845-888-5385.
New York State Police Captain Pierce Gallagher said, “Unfortunately you always have to be conscious of a driver doing the wrong thing and unfortunately this is two young men that have learned that the hard way,” according to Albany Time Warner Cable News.
