ANNADALE, NY- Silive.com writes that a woman died in a tragic crash in Annadale in the evening at the intersection of Annadale Road and Arden Avenue. The victim has been identified as a 32-year-old woman from Tottenville. Reports state that the woman was a single mom with two young daughters.
The victim worked for an eyeglass store on Staten Island prior to her tragic death. At the time of the collision, the woman was a passenger in a 2012 Ford SUV. The driver of the vehicle was identified as a 35-year-old man. The impact ejected the mother from the vehicle, and responders declared her dead at the scene of the crash. The driver of the vehicle suffered severe injuries and was transported to the Staten Island University Hospital, where he was in stable condition.
The driver who struck the car carrying the victim fled the crash scene. Police stated that the other vehicle involved in the accident was a 2018 Lexus SUV. The Lexus had been reported as stolen prior to the crash.
A man was operating the Lexus, and according to the initial investigation, he was driving westbound in the eastbound lanes of Arden Avenue. Following the impact, the Lexus then collided with a parked 2018 BMW pushing that car into a 2019 Ford SUV.
The man in the Lexus left the scene on foot. A witness saw the suspect running away from the scene moments after the crash. The witness sent his family inside the house and said that by the time he turned back, the man was jumping over a fence.
The man still has not been identified, and the search for the suspect is still underway.
