According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), every year, over 200,000 children below the age of 14 are injured on playgrounds.
A study in 2001 revealed that nearly half of these playground injuries are serious and include bone fractures, dislocations, concussions, and internal injuries. Many of these may be preventable with careful supervision.

There have been allegations of child abuse recently, against a daycare in Riverdale, Utah. One mother, in the hopes that her story would motivate other parents to speak out, voiced concerns against Bravo Academy daycare. Police reported that her 5-year-old son was choked, according to the Standard-Examiner.
The boy was allegedly choked and then slammed to the ground by a 20-year-old daycare employee, according to police reports. The daycare worker is facing a misdemeanor child abuse charge. He pleaded not guilty. The owner of the daycare denied that any abuse occurred and that the boy has a history of behavioral issues.
The Utah Bureau of Child Development, since 2012, has handled over 2,000 reports of caregiver-related incidents that required investigation. In 2016, the largest number of cases was reported with 486 incidents.
A 67-year-old worker in Cape Coral, Florida, was recently fired for alleged child abuse and cruelty. The worker allegedly grabbed a young girl by the hair and a young boy by the throat while they were playing outside, Fox 4 reports.
A different staff member, who had only been working at the daycare for two days, witnessed the incident and confronted the other worker about it. The employee allegedly answered, “It’s so hard to work with kids.”
The daycare’s director learned of the alleged incident in January, and has since, fired the employee. The woman has been arrested and both families want to press charges.

But child abuse can take a variety of forms, including neglect or emotional abuse that can be more difficult to spot.
