Brooklyn Apartment Elevator Accident
PROSPECT LEFFERTS GARDENS, BROOKLYN, NY – According to a news report published on abc7ny.com, a man was tragically killed in a Brooklyn apartment elevator when he was attempting to recover cell phone. The accident investigators are currently trying to ascertain how the man was killed in the Brooklyn elevator accident.
Law enforcement authorities stated that the fatal elevator accident occurred at around 1:15 in the afternoon. The incident occurred at a 6-story apartment building located on Parkside Avenue in Prospect Lefferts Gardens. The accident investigators stated that the 64-year-old man was pinned by the elevator, and he was tragically killed.
The preliminary accident investigation report provided by the Department of Building, the accident victim, who was the assistant superintendent of the apartment building, and an apartment tenant, stepped into the elevator machine room inside the basement to recover a cell phone that had fallen into the elevator’s pit.
While the two people were in the elevator machine room, the elevator was summoned to another floor, and the apartment building superintendent was tragically caught in the moving elevator sheave and hoist ropes.
The superintendent tenant was tragically pronounced deceased at the accident scene, and the tenant sustained injuries in the incident. The Department of Buildings is investigating the fatal accident.
