STATEN ISLAND, New York — A woman from the Annadale neighborhood of Staten Island died in a head-on collision with an individual who was driving a stolen car. The suspect ran away from the crash while the victim lay dying, and her 35-year-old significant other was severely injured. The victim killed in the head-on collision was the mother of a ten-year-old girl and a six-year-old girl. SILive.com reported that the woman’s friends described her as a warm person who was always smiling. The woman’s significant other remains listed in stable condition at Staten Island University Hospital in Ocean Breeze. NYPD investigators continue to pursue leads toward identifying and apprehending the suspect who ran from the scene.
Several people commented to SILive.com about the outgoing and good-natured personality of the hit-and-run accident victim. Friends said that the victim was a single mother who was raising her two daughters, both of whom attend public schools in Annadale. The victim was known around her daughter’s school as being extremely kind.
The woman’s employer also commented about his lost employee. The employer described the woman as “bubbly” and as someone who wanted to make friends with as many people as possible. Her employer expressed a tremendous sense of loss over the death of his beloved employee.
The woman’s acquaintances wondered about the devastating effect the woman’s tragic death would have on the daughters she leaves behind. The notion that their mother cannot come home any longer is incredibly sad, and it is hard to imagine what those little girls are feeling.
NYPD investigators continue to search for the suspect who ran from the crash. Surveillance video captured him running through yards and over fences to escape from justice. The deceased was in the front seat of a Ford SUV that was demolished by the stolen SUV from which the suspect fled. The stolen SUV was in the wrong lane when the vehicles collided.
