Rod bearing accidents
According to an online news report posted on wpri.com, Hyundai announced it is recalling over 128,000 motor vehicles due to defective rod bearings. The automobile recall involves some 2011-2013 and 2016 Sonata Hybrids, 2012 Santa Fe SUVs, and 2015 and 2016 Velosters.
According to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA), the recalled Hyundai motor vehicles are being recalled due to a defective connecting rod bearing in the engine that might cause damage, resulting in dangerous fires and stalls. The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration stated that Hyundai would be notifying both owners and dealers about the recall.
The vehicles will be inspected and repaired at no charge to the owners. Owners are advised not to drive the motor vehicles and to contact their local Hyundai dealership for assistance. For more information about the recall, owners should refer to hyundaiusa.com.
