NEW YORK CITY, NY – According to a news report on The Street.com, a man was tragically killed in a Revel moped accident in New York City, New York. Revel closed down its operations in the city until further notice and until the company reviews and bolsters its rider safety and accountability policies. This is the second fatal Revel moped accident in just a few weeks.
The 32-year old moped accident victim had sustained his fatal accident in a Queens borough in the early morning hours. The news report claims that the man drove the Revel electric moped into a light pole. The news report also claims that the electric Revel mopeds can reach speeds of 30 miles per hour.
Accident authorities stated that they were unsure at the time if the accident victim was using a motorcycle helmet or if the motorcycle helmet found at the scene was strapped to the moped. A couple of weeks ago, a news reporter for CBS was killed when riding as a passenger on a Revel moped in Brooklyn, New York.
New York Mayor Bill de Blasio stated that the moped company had decided to temporarily close down their electric moped service.
