
Motorcycle Accident on Williamsburg Bridge
BROOKLYN, NY – A news article posted on amny.com reports that a motorcyclist collided with a car on the Williamsburg Bridge. According to police reports, the motorcycle accident occurred on Saturday night. The motorcyclist was tragically killed at the scene of the accident.
A 48-year-old motorcyclist from Jamaica, Queens, was driving along the Brooklyn-bound traffic lanes of the East River span at around 9:40 at night. The biker attempted to pass when he collided with a Dodge sedan and then crashed into a metal pillar.
Paramedics with EMS rushed to the accident scene and discovered the motorcycle rider sustained severe head injuries. The EMS pronounced the motorcyclist dead at the scene of the crash.
The other driver, a 31-year-old man, was uninjured and remained at the accident scene for police. The NYPD is continuing to investigate the fatal motorcycle collision.
Video footage taken at the scene shows emergency first responders obstructing the roadway as they worked on the victim lying on the ground and covered with a white sheet.
This motorcycle accident is the third death in the past ten years on the Williamsburg Bridge that connects the Lower East Side to Williamsburg. According to the website NYC Crash Mapper, an addition to 74 injuries in 50 crashes have occurred in the area.
