EAST FLATBUSH, NY – According to an online news report on nydailynews.com, a Brooklyn motorcyclist was involved in a serious accident with a city councilwoman. The motorcyclist passed away from accident-related injuries after being in a coma for two weeks. The victim’s family stated that the city councilwoman never gave her condolences.
The 32-year-old man sustained a punctured lung, severe head trauma, and significant internal injuries after the T-boned accident. The accident occurred at around 7:20 in the morning. He passed away at Brookdale University Hospital.
NYPD officers stated that the motorcyclist was traveling southbound on Avenue J in East Flatbush. The news report states that the motorcyclist had the green light as well as the right of way when he was struck by the Nissan which was heading east on Kings Highway. The motorcyclist collided with the car.
According to a press release from the councilwoman’s office stated that she was injured and hospitalized. A spokesperson stated that the councilwoman was praying that the motorcyclist makes a full recovery.
News reports inaccurately reported that the motorcyclist sustained only minor injuries. According to the victim’s father, the victim was transported to the hospital “with major injuries, not minor,” and suffered massive chest trauma. In addition, the victim’s “liver was cut in half and his kidneys failed.” The father of the victim stated that his son “was in the ICU for 15 days in a coma before he died.”
The police have conducted a thorough accident investigation. According to the father, there are two witnesses who reported his son’s motorcycle was moving through a green light.
The motorcyclist was a Midwood resident who was riding to work the morning of the accident.
