Medical airlift for motorcycle accident victim
LONG ISLAND, N.Y. — A motorcyclist lies in a Long Island ICU in critical condition after he was critically injured when his motorcycle collided with two Lexus automobiles. The severe motorcycle accident happened at the intersection of Broadway and Veterans Boulevard. That intersection is known throughout Massapequa as a dangerous intersection because of the high volume of vehicles passing through daily. According to a report published by the Patch, the crash took place around 10:35 a.m. The motorcycle rider, who was reported to be a 28-year-old man, was severely injured. Medics called for a medical helicopter to transport him to the trauma center at Nassau University Medical Center. The facility lists the motorcycle rider in critical condition after sustaining massive internal injuries. The hospital did not report whether their patient was stable. Nassau County police accident reconstruction detectives are working the case.
Nassau County police told the Patch from Massapequa that the motorcyclist who was riding a 2013 Harley Davidson south on Broadway collided with a 2014 Lexus sedan driven by a 63-year-old man. The older gentleman was turning left at the intersection of Veterans Boulevard and Broadway when the Harley Davidson crashed into the Lexus. The police did not specify onto which road the 63-year-old man was turning at the time the motorcycle and Lexus collided.
Police said that the motorcycle hit the Lexus on the passenger’s side of the car. At the same time, a 2017 Lexus SUV driven by a 56-year-old woman was heading north on Broadway. The motorcycle rider careened off of the first Lexus and was hit by the second Lexus.
The motorcycle rider sustained several internal injuries. None of the other two people involved required medical attention. Police impounded the motorcycle and performed safety tests on the other two vehicles at the scene.
