MASSAPEQUA, Long Island, N.Y. — A 28-year-old motorcycle rider suffered critical injuries in a crash involving two luxury-brand automobiles in Massapequa. The motorcycle accident happened around 10:30 in the morning. According to a report in the Daily Voice, the motorcycle rider collided with two Lexus automobiles in the crash at the intersection of Veterans Boulevard and Broadway in Massapequa. The location is known to be a bustling and crowded intersection in Massapequa. Nassau County police responded to investigate. They said that the 28-year-old male was severely hurt and called in a medical helicopter to airlift him to Nassau University Medical Center. The hospital listed the motorcycle rider in critical condition and noted that he sustained numerous internal injuries.
Nassau County police accident investigators are still investigating the crash. Preliminary, the investigators determined that a 63-year-old man driving a 2014 four-door Lexus sedan turned left at the intersection located at Veterans Boulevard and Broadway. Police reported that the 28-year-old motorcycle rider, who was operating a 2013 Harley Davidson south on Broadway, crashed into the Lexus. The police noted the point of contact with the 2014 Lexus was at the passenger side of the vehicle.
A second collision occurred immediately after the first. The motorcycle rider bounced off of the 2014 Lexus and crashed into a 2017 Lexus SUV. A 56-year-old woman was driving the Lexus SUV north on Broadway. The investigating officers have not reported whether the rider was wearing a helmet or if he was, whether the helmet stayed on. Neither Lexus operated suffered an injury.
The police continue to investigate the accident and have not released their final report. The officers did not say in their preliminary report whether the motorcycle rider or either of the drivers committed a motor vehicle offense. The police seized the motorcycle for examination and analysis. The officers also impounded the two Lexus autos to perform safety tests.
