SMITHTOWN, NY – August 13, 2020 – According to an online news report on DailyVoice.com, a 22-year-old motorcyclist was tragically killed in a two-motor vehicle collision at a Long Island intersection in Smithtown, New York. The accident occurred at approximately 11:20 p.m. on Wednesday, August 12, 2020.
A 17-year-old young man from Nesconset was operating a 2000 Nissan Pathfinder on Carriage House Road. The 17-year-old made a left turn on to Route 25A and then struck a Honda motorcycle. The motorcyclist was taken to the Stony Brook University Hospital, where the man was later pronounced dead, according to law enforcement. According to the police, the driver of the Nissan Pathfinder was not injured. The police impounded the truck and the motorcycle as part of the motor vehicle collision investigation.
According to NewsDay.com, a second fatal motorcycle accident happened in Woodbury, Nassau County, New York. The report states that a 31-year-old motorcyclist collided with an automobile that allegedly turned in front of the motorcyclist causing a serious accident, according to Nassau County police.
The accident occurred on Jericho Turnpike. The driver of a 2016 Toyota Camry was attempting to turn left into the Fairhaven Apartments at around 6:15 p.m. The collision caused the motorcyclist to be ejected from his motorcycle and he sustained “multiple trauma personal injuries.” The motorcyclist was rushed to a local hospital and he was tragically pronounced.
According to the police, the Camry’s driver sustained non-life-threatening injuries. The man was taken to a hospital. No names were released and the investigation of the accident continues, according to law enforcement.
