MIDTOWN, MANHATTAN, NY – May 11, 2020 – According to an online news report published on pix11.com, an MTA utility vehicle slammed into a soda delivery truck that was parked near Times Square this morning. The accident occurred at approximately 5:30 in the morning, according to police. The collision resulted in two people receiving serious injuries. The accident victims were hospitalized due to the serious nature of their injuries.
The soda truck driver stated that he parked his truck in a bus lane while making deliveries on West 42nd Street and in between Sixth Avenue and Broadway. The driver stated that he was not at the scene of the accident when the MTA collided with his truck.
The FDNY reported that two individuals were transported to a local hospital to receive treatments for their injuries. The condition of the two individuals is unknown at this time. The police stated that the two accident victims sustain non-life-threatening injuries. The soda truck driver was unharmed in the accident.
The MTA gave a statement regarding the accident. The MTA stated that an MTA employee has been “charged by police” in the accident. The MTA also stated that the MTA employee who caused the accident “has been suspended from duty effective immediately, pending an investigation and review.”
