FLORIDA – A news article posted on floridatoday.com states that a 35-year-old man from New York was killed in a paragliding accident last Friday afternoon. According to the accident report, the fatal crash occurred in the Compound area of Palm Bay, Florida. The Compound is a 12-square-mile undeveloped parcel of land in southwestern Palm Bay, Florida. This area contains over 200 miles of back roads built by a bankrupt company.
The fatal paragliding accident occurred at around 4:30 PM last Friday at the intersection of Tarboro Terrace and Woodstock Drive in Palm Bay, Florida. According to Palm Bay Police Lieutenant Jeff Spears, the area of the accident is close to the western terminus of Osmosis Drive.
According to Palm Bay Police Lieutenant Spears, the victim was paragliding with several people when the crash transpired. The victim was transported to a local area hospital, where he tragically passed away.
Lieutenant Spears also reported that the Palm Bay Police are investigating the crash to determine the cause of the fatal accident, especially since paraglider accidents do not fall under the investigatory jurisdiction of the National Transportation Safety Board or the Federal Aviation Administration.
