Pedestrian Accident SIUHGRANT CITY, NY- According to Silive.com, a pedestrian was struck by a vehicle on Thursday morning, December 6, 2018, in Grant City, New Jersey. The incident occurred at about 6 in the morning and impacted rush hour traffic in the area.

The victim was taken to the Staten Island University Hospital with minor injuries.

Even minor NJ traffic accidents can wreak havoc on traffic, especially during rush hour when the roads are already crowded. A small accident can block lanes, and emergency vehicles can cut traffic off even longer. In more serious incidents, crews may have to clear the road and remove disabled vehicles before traffic can flow normally again.

While heavy traffic caused by blocked lanes and emergency crews is unavoidable, many traffic delays could be prevented if drivers were cautious around accident scenes and stayed focused on the road. Unfortunately, human nature causes many drivers to want to look at the scene of accidents, or even at vehicles that have been pulled over by the police. This behavior, known as rubbernecking, is a form of distracted driving that not only backed up traffic, but can also lead to more collisions, and in turn even heavier traffic.

Distracted driving is most often associated with drivers using smartphones and texting while behind the wheel. However, and behavior that takes a person’s attention away from driving, including looking at a radio dial or talking to passengers, is considered distracted driving as well. When drivers are approaching the scene of an earlier accident, there is a good chance that the traffic is slowing down or may have even stopped. Staring out of the window at the scene of the crash could cause a secondary crash. It is important for drivers always to keep their eyes on the road.

I am a 9/11 survivor and it was my good fortune to work with paralegal Benita Rollis. She thoroughly explained the process and helped me to complete all the paperwork. I distinctly remember the day she called to check on me and to encourage me to schedule a medical appointment with WTC health program. I was reluctant to proceed but Benita gave me a much needed pep talk. Thank you Benita! All of Benita’s hard work has made the difference and this has been concluded very favorably.
