Collision pins woman
BROOKLYN, New York — A woman was pinned against the outside wall of a coffee shop after two cars collided and pushed her into the wall. The accident was in the Downtown Brooklyn area at the intersection of Bond and Livingston. The female pedestrian was trapped partially under a black Chevy Tahoe sports utility vehicle according to a photograph appearing in the Gothamist. The photo was taken by a man sitting inside the coffee shop near the wall struck by the Chevy Tahoe. The pedestrian is expected to survive. The driver of the Chevy Tahoe was also hurt in the crash. He is expected to survive as well. There was no information about the condition of the driver operating a silver Ford vehicle.
The freak accident could have been much worse than it was. A spokesperson speaking on behalf of the New York City Police Department said that the driver of the Tahoe was driving west on Bond, and the silver Ford was heading east when the vehicles collided. A witness said that the driver in the silver Ford vehicle tried to “beat the light” when turning from Livingston to Bond. The collision between the Ford and the Chevy Tahoe propelled the Tahoe over a sidewalk and into a female pedestrian who happened to be in the proverbial “wrong place at the wrong time.”
The collision pinned part of her body up against the wall of a coffee shop. The man who took the photos of the accident scene was on the other side of the wall. He said the woman was screaming initially after she was hit, but then stopped. The man was worried that she was killed in the crash when she fell quiet.
Medics arrived rapidly and took the pedestrian as well as the driver of the SUV to Methodist Hospital. Neither suffered life-threatening injuries. NYPD officers are still investigating the matter and have not issued charges to this point.
