
Dump truck-pedestrian accident
BRONX, N.Y. — A man died after being hit by a dump truck in the pre-dawn hours. The dump truck driver left the scene of the crash according to WCBS880.radio.com. New York Police officers investigating the incident have not made any arrests, and their investigation into the circumstances of the fatal collision continues.
NYPD officers say that a man parked his vehicle on the service road on Bruckner Boulevard near Country Club Road. The intersection of the Bruckner Boulevard service road and Country Club Road is in the Pelham Neighborhood of the Bronx. The man next attempted to cross the service road on foot. While the pedestrian was crossing, a dump truck heading north on the service road collided with the pedestrian. The crash reportedly happened around 5:00 a.m.
Officers responding to the call soon learned that the dump truck driver fled the area. WCBS880 did not report how the police came to learn that the suspect vehicle was a dump truck. WCBS880 did say that medics from NY EMS responded to the scene and pronounced the pedestrian dead. The investigating officers have declined to identify the man who died in the crash. Additionally, investigators have not said whether they have identified the suspect vehicle or the suspect driver. NYPD officers have not made any arrests in the matter. The case investigation remains open and active.
In other accident news around New York, WCBS880.com reports that a school bus was involved in a collision with a car in Newark, NJ on Monday, March 11, 2019. The car the crashed into the bus also plowed into two parked cars, one of which was occupied by two people. The scene of the crash was reported to be Seymore Avenue and West Runyon Street in Newark. Eight people including five children on the school bus sustained injuries. The children’s injuries are reportedly non-life-threatening.
