Fatal hit and run
SPRINGFIELD GARDENS, QUEENS, NEW YORK – According to a pedestrian accident ness story posted on abc7ny.com, a man was tragically killed while helping a motorist while in the emergency breakdown lane of a highway. The man was tragically killed in a hit-and-run accident. The hit-and-run driver was driving in a blue van.
The victim’s son stated that his father was one of those rare people who would stop and offer assistance to stranded motorists who have mechanical issues with their motor vehicle. The victim’s son stated that his father was a great man who would always stop and help.
The fatal pedestrian accident occurred on the Nassau Expressway outside JFK Airport at around 8:30 pm. The victim was outside of his car when a blue van created a chain reaction collision, slammed into a minivan, and the minivan hit the victim. The hit-and-run driver fled his blue van and took off on foot. Law enforcement officers are still following up with leads throughout the weekend.
The victim is remembered as a generous and upbeat man who was a good neighbor. The victim lived in Atlantic Beach, Long Island. The victim’s family stated that the victim was an inspiration and Good Samaritan.
The victim’s ex-wife stated that her children lost a father, and she lost a friend who was there for her and helped her through her tough times.
