Pedestrian Accident in Queens
QUEENS, NY – A news article on NYPOST.com states that a 35-year-old woman was hit by a sedan. According to the news report, the street that the victim was struck is known as the “Boulevard of Death.” The victim is now fighting for her life, police stated. The woman was struck at approximately 5:50 in the morning by a light gray or silver SUV at Hillside Avenue and Queens Boulevard in Jamaica, New York, police stated. The SUV’s driver illegally fled the scene of the pedestrian accident.
Surveillance video cameras examined by The Post showed the victim, who was wearing a T-shirt and shorts, waiting to cross the street on a concrete island in the center of Queens Boulevard. The victim seemed to be shaky on her feet when she stepped off the island and into the roadway. Within a few seconds, the video footage showed the silver or light gray SUV driving over the woman. The victim rolled with the SUV’s wheels and the vehicle kept driving.
Surveillance camera footage captured the driver fleeing the accident scene after trucking the woman. The unidentified victim was then transported to Jamaica Hospital where she is listed in critical medical condition, according to a spokesman for the NYPD. The 35-year-old victim is said to be homeless.
A witness stated that he had seen the end of the pedestrian accident. According to the witness, the driver was speeding and didn’t stop. when the victim was struck, she was whimpering and she was going in and out of consciousness. The witness stated that he called 911, but another driver placed the victim in his car to take her to a local hospital before EMS arrived.
The NYPD’s Collision Investigation Squad is investigating the pedestrian accident.
