QUEENS, NY – A news article posted on nydailynews.com reports that a Queens immigrant was tragically killed when he was struck by an MTA bus. The 63-year-old victim was heading to pick up something for his wife when he accidentally walked into the path of a Q39 bus. The fatal collision occurred on Broadway close to Roosevelt Avenue in Jackson Heights. The accident happened at around 7:20 in the evening.
According to law enforcement officers, the westbound Q39 bus purportedly had the green light when the victim entered a crosswalk, was struck, and fell to the ground by the bus’ front bumper. He was then transported to Elmhurst Hospital Center. He sustained traumatic head injuries. He tragically passed away at the hospital.
The victim’s wife called her son and confirmed the husband was already at the hospital. The fatal pedestrian accident is currently under investigation. No criminal charges have been reported.
