Pedestrian seriously injured in a collision
COLONIE, N.Y. — Police investigators from Colonie, New York are trying to determine what happened when a pedestrian was hit by a car at the intersection of Wolf and Sand Creek Roads according to The Daily Gazette. The male pedestrian sustained severe head trauma according to police. The matter remains under investigation with local law enforcement authorities. There was no update on the victim’s current medical condition.
Police investigators told The Daily Gazette that a 65-year-old man hailing from Troy, New York, was hit while crossing Wolf Road from east to west. Reportedly, the man was in the crosswalk at the time he was struck. Officers said that a female driver hit the man as she was turning north from Sand Creek Road onto Wolf Road. The female operated was described by police as a 58-year-old woman from Colonie. Police say she was not hurt in the accident and she stopped immediately upon striking the pedestrian.
The responding officers investigated the accident scene. Their initial investigation revealed that the 58-year-old driver was not suffering from the effects of drugs or alcohol. The police also said that speed was not a factor that caused the collision with the pedestrian.
The pedestrian accident victim was rushed to Albany Medical Center with severe head trauma. There was no additional information available about the man’s condition. Police have asked for people with information concerning the accident to come forward and provide it to them. The events causing the accident will remain under investigation.
The police did not indicate whether they expect to charge anyone with any criminal conduct in the incident or would issue a citation for a motor vehicle infraction. Investigators will try to uncover as many facts about the event as possible before concluding why the incident happened.
