HARLEM, N.Y. — A pedestrian required hospitalization after suffering injuries in a collision with a truck. The pedestrian accident happened around 9:00 a.m. on Tuesday, April 16, 2019, according to a report appearing in the Harlem Patch. New York City Police officers noted that the accident scene was located at Broadway and West 149thStreet in Harlem. The investigating officers from NYPD did not elaborate on the extent of the victim’s injuries except to say that the person suffered pain across the body. NYPD officers did not arrest the truck driver, who remained on scene. However, the pedestrian accident remains under investigation.
The investigating officers released few details to the media in the aftermath of the pedestrian accident at Broadway and West 149thStreet in Harlem this morning. The initial information released to the press indicates that a pedestrian was struck by a truck while attempting to cross the intersection. The police did not declare what type of truck hit the pedestrian. The reporting officers did say that the truck driver stayed at the accident scene. Officers did not arrest the truck driver; however, their investigation into the crash continues and, in the end, determine that criminal charges or a civil citation are warranted.
The investigating officers did not provide much information about the injured pedestrian. The officers reported that Emergency Medical Services transported the victim to Jacoby Hospital in The Bronx for treatment. The individual reportedly experienced pain all over the body. Officers did not release the pedestrian’s name, date of birth, or other identifying information.
The city of New York persists with its plan to reduce pedestrian accidents to zero.
