Pedestrian accident in inwood
According to an online news report posted on nypost.com, two pedestrians were tragically killed in the Inwood area of Manhattan. The report states that a two-car accident caused one of the motor vehicles to swerve onto a sidewalk injuring a pedestrian. The city block is considered one of the deadliest blocks in the neighborhood, according to police and accident data.
The pedestrian crash report states that a BMW was heading northbound along Sherman Avenue when it crashed with a Subaru Forester SUV that was heading in the opposite direction at the Sherman Avenue and West 207th Street intersection. The Subaru Forester SUV struck two parked motor vehicles just before it swerved onto the sidewalk and crashed into two men. The video of the crash site showed two unconscious men lying on the sidewalk.
A 31-year-old man who was identified by police was transported to New York-Presbyterian Allen Hospital. The victim tragically passed away at the hospital. Another victim, a 40-year-old man, was transported to Harlem Hospital, where he succumbed to his crash-related injuries. The crash also injured five other people, including three victims who are listed in critical medical condition.
Photos taken at the accident scene show the Subaru was on the sidewalk, and it had its rearview mirror destroyed. A Mercedes S550 also sustained heavy damage. Both drivers remained at the crash scene, and the investigation is ongoing.
Sherman Avenue has a fatal track record with four traffic-related deaths in the past ten years, which is more than any other street in the area.
