STATEN ISLAND, New York — A fatal car crash in the Annadale section of Staten Island triggered a manhunt and left an ordinarily quiet neighborhood frightened by what transpired. People sitting on their porch heard a loud noise that sounded like a car crash. Within a few moments, the family spotted a man running through backyards and over fences. According to Advance/SILive.com, the suspect was driving a stolen 2018 Lexus SUV and crashed head-on into a 2012 Ford SUV going in the opposite direction. The collision killed a 32-year-old mother, and gravely injured her companion, who was identified as a 35-year-old man. The woman, who was pronounced dead without transport to a hospital, leaves behind two young children. About seven hours after the fatal hit-and-run, a police officer was hurt in a second crash in the area. The police said that the person who caused the crash ran from that scene as well.
Police continue to pursue two men who fled on foot from separate crash scenes that occurred within a few blocks seven hours apart. The first accident, which happened around 8 p.m., involved a person described as a black male, wearing a white shirt, with dark pants and dark shoes ran from the scene of a crash that killed a young woman. Security cameras from the neighborhood near the crash scene captured images of the man cowardly running away from the accident he caused.
NYPD officers believe the male seen running through Annadale yards was the operator of a stolen Lexus SUV that was driving on the wrong side of the road and plowed into a Ford SUV. The collision took the life of the young mother in the car. The male in the SUV clings to life. Cruelly, the man who caused the fatal collision, appeared to escape injury as he nimbly ran across people’s yards to evade capture.
The second crash injured an NYC police officer responding to a call. The officer engaged the patrol car’s emergency lights. Still, a white male driving a 2018 Chevrolet hit the police car and then ran away. The officer was hurt in the crash.
