DADE CITY, FL – July 7, 2020 – According to an online news report from WEARtv.com, the Florida Highway Patrol announced the tragic passing of a 7-year-old boy in a fatal all-terrain vehicle rollover accident. The ATV rollover accident also injured two small children and a few other people. Law enforcement investigators stated that there were six people riding on the ATV when the rollover accident occurred. The ATV involved in the accident looks similar to a golf car with all-terrain tires. The Tampa Bay Times stated that the 7-year-old boy was operating the ATV at the time of the accident. The accident occurred around 8 p.m. on Saturday in Dade City, Florida. Dade City is a city in Pasco County, just north of Tampa.
Unfortunately, the 7-year-old boy succumbed to his injuries while receiving emergency medical treatment at a local hospital. Another child, a 4-year-old girl, and a 2-year-old boy were seriously injured. Also, three adult men received lesser injuries, according to the Florida Highway Patrol.
According to the Florida Highway Patrol accident report, none of the ATV people had a helmet during the accident. Florida law mandates that individuals riding or operating an ATV and who are under the age of 16 must wear a helmet and eye protection.
The ATV involved in the accident is a Kawasaki Teryx4. According to the manufacturer’s specifications, the vehicle only has seating for four people. Law enforcement impounded the vehicle for a safety check. The investigation is ongoing.
