
18 wheeler jack knife accident
STATEN ISLAND, NY – August 25, 2020 – According to an online news report posted on silive.com, an 18-wheeler truck jack-knifed along the Brooklyn-bound lane of the Staten Island Expressway. According to 511 NY, the tractor-trailer truck accident was reported at approximately 7:55 a.m. and was located near the Hylan Boulevard exit. The truck turned and came to rest across three lanes in front of the morning eastbound traffic. The accident had traffic backed up on the Staten Island Expressway for several miles. The law enforcement officers who arrived at the scene began directing motor vehicles onto the highway’s shoulder and around the 18-wheeler truck. The news report stated that the highway’s service road was also bumper to bumper as motorists tried to exit the Staten Island Expressway and avoid the accident scene.
In a different accident that also caused significant delays in the morning commute, the Verrazzano-Narrows Bridge’s upper level was blocked due to a serious motor vehicle accident in the Brooklyn-bound lanes. The collision resulted in four people sustaining injuries. Emergency Medical Services arrived at the accident scene at approximately 7:30 in the morning, according to a spokesperson for the FDNY. Two people were transported to a local area hospital due to the severity of their injuries.
