Bose Recalls its Acoustimass®, Lifestyle®, and Companion™ Bass Modules Due to Fire Hazard
On June 29, 2023, Bose Corporation issued a recall for certain Acoustimass®, Lifestyle®, and Companion™ bass modules produced before April 2006, as they pose a fire hazard due to potential electrical component failures. This recall affects approximately 884,000 units in the United States, with an additional 98,000 sold in Canada and 18,300 in Mexico. Recall Details
The recalled bass modules were sold with select Acoustimass, Lifestyle, and Companion home theater systems. These components can be identified by their black or white color and bear a product label on either the back or bottom of the bass module. The label displays the Bose logo, product name, serial number marked as “SER. NO.,” and a date code, with the latter found in the eighth through eleventh digits of the serial number.

Bose Corporation has received 21 worldwide reports of the bass modules igniting or melting, leading to three incidents of fires causing property damage to carpeting, an entertainment cabinet, and materials surrounding the bass box. Fortunately, no injuries have been reported so far.
