BRONX, NY – September 8, 2020 – According to an online news report posted on Pix11.com, a serious, fatal e-bike accident occurred in the Bronx, New York, area over the weekend. According to the police reports, the bike-pedestrian accident occurred early Saturday morning at approximately 1 AM. The police report quoted in the news article reported that law enforcement officers responded to a fatal collision between a pedestrian and an e-bicyclist in the area of Willis Avenue and East 135th Street.
The news report stated that one of the accident victims, a 25-year-old man riding an e-bike, was found lying in the road, and he had sustained a serious traumatic head injury. The other accident victim, a 46-year-old man, sustained a shoulder injury. EMS transported the 25-year-old e-bike rider to a local hospital, and the man was pronounced dead at the hospital. The 46-year-old man, who suffered a shoulder injury, was transported and treated at a local hospital, and he was listed as being in stable condition.
According to the news report, the e-bike rider was traveling along the roadway and was allegedly biking without a bicycle helmet. According to the NYPD investigation, the e-bike rider collided with the 46-year-old pedestrian, and then the e-bike rider sustained a severe head injury after he fell off of his e-bike and landed onto the road. There have been no arrests made at the time of this report, and the accident is currently under investigation by local law enforcement officers.
