BRONX, NY – According to an online news report posted on nydailynews.com, three motorists were involved in a serious motor vehicle accident that caused severe injuries. The accident happened early Saturday morning on a Bronx highway. A Honda Accord was traveling along Major Deegan Expressway in the right lane. As the Honda Accord reached the E. 161st Street exit, the car was struck by a Honda Civic, which was moving into the Honda Accord’s lane from the center of the road. The collision took place at approximately 5 in the morning.
The 27-year-old driver of the Honda Civic lost control of his car after he hit the Honda Accord. As a result, the Honda Civic collided with a group of barriers that were allegedly filled with sand. A 29-year-old male who was riding as a passenger in the Honda Civic was critically injured in the accident, according to police.
The news report stated that the occupants in both cars were all friends who were traveling together at the time of the accident. According to police, the three people were injured in Honda Civic, and they were transported to a local area hospital. One of the occupants suffered critical injuries, according to police.
Two occupants of the Honda Accord, a 32-year-old woman and a 29-year-old man, placed the injured friend into their car, and they transported him to Lincoln Medical Center. The man is listed as in critical condition.
Emergency Medical Services transported the Honda Civic driver and another passenger to Lincoln Medical Center. Both are listed as in stable medical condition.
Police are investigating the accident.
