EMT from Brooklyn dies
BROOKLYN, New York — A 27-year-old woman died in a fiery motorcycle crash in Brooklyn recently. The woman, who was a motorcycle enthusiast, died when her bike rear-ended and then became lodged in a double-parked work truck. The truck was unoccupied when the bike hit it. The female motorcyclist sustained severe burns and perished a short time after the crash, according to the New York Post. New York City police officers reported that the crash happened on Bay 35th Street in the Gravesend neighborhood of Brooklyn around 11:30 in the morning. Officers continue to investigate the facts leading to the fatal motorcycle accident and have not charged anyone at this time.
Police have not figured out why she slammed into the back of a truck so close to her home. From the photographs of the accident scene published by the New York Post, the bike appeared to have remained upright and had become wedged in the truck’s rear-end upon impact. Also, charring is visible on both the truck and the motorcycle. The front end of the motorcycle is completely destroyed. The truck into which the accident victim crashed appears to be carrying a “roll-off” style dumpster. Flashing lights from the vehicle are not visible in the photographs.
The 27-year-old woman who lost her life in the horrible motorcycle crash worked as an emergency medical technician for Maimonides Medical Center. She died only a couple of blocks from her home. The victim’s cousin said she was an amazing woman who had everything going for her. A social post and pictures showed the victim sitting on a motorcycle that was different from the black motorcycle she rode when she crashed.
The medical examiner’s office claimed jurisdiction of the victim and will perform a post-mortem examination to determine the official cause of death. The accident investigation commenced by the NYPD is still ongoing.
