BROOKLYN, NY – According to an accident article post on bklyner.com, one man was tragically killed, and two other people were severely injured in a motor vehicle accident on the eastbound Brooklyn Queens Expressway.
According to the accident report, law enforcement officers responded to an emergency 911 phone call regarding a serious accident that occurred by the Flushing Ave exit of the Brooklyn-Queens Expressway. The accident was inside the 88 Precinct of Clinton Hill, New York, and occurred at approximately 12:40 in the morning.
When law enforcement and Emergency Medical Services responded to the scene of the accident, they discovered a red, two-door Scion car with two occupants still in the motor vehicle. The accident victims, the driver, a 22-year-old woman, and her 33-year-old male passenger in the back seat. According to the police officers working the accident scene, the 23-year-old male passenger was tragically thrown out of the front passenger seat when the Scion crashed into a traffic barrier.
Emergency Medical Services took the 22-year-old female driver and her 33-year-old male passenger by ambulance to NYC Health/ Hospital Woodhull. The two accident victims are listed in stable medical condition. Her front-seat passenger was also transported to NYC Health & Hospital Bellevue. He tragically passed away due to the severity of his injuries.
The NYPD Highway District’s Collision Investigation Squad has been investigating the fatal motor vehicle accidents. The preliminary accident report states that the accident was caused by a failure to navigate the roadway. In the report, the investigators stated that the car was driving eastbound along the Brooklyn Queens Expressway.
As the vehicle approached Flushing Avenue, the 22-year-old driver “failed to properly navigate the roadway,” and this caused her motor vehicle to hit the fixed ‘cushion’ structure located at the exit area of the location. After the collision, the motor vehicle came to rest. No other motor vehicles were involved in the accident.According to NYDailyNews.com, the driver allegedly blew a 0.082% on an alcohol Breathalyzer test that she submitted to at the scene of the accident. She was 0.002% over the legal limit. the legal limit. She has been charged with Driving While Intoxicated, and vehicular manslaughter.
