New York Police accident investigators are trying to piece together why a 33-year-old motorcycle rider heading inbound to Brooklyn rammed his motorcycle into the back of a BMW on the Williamsburg Bridge. Officers said that that fatal crash happened around 4:25 p.m. The driver of the 2013 BMW sedan, a 40-year-old man, remained at the scene and cooperated with police by all accounts.
First responders raced the injured motorcyclist to Woodhull Hospital suffering from severe injuries. Doctors pronounced the motorcycle rider deceased a short time after arrival.
The accident investigators assigned to the case did not identify the victim of the crash or the driver of the BMW. The police said that the crash remains under investigation. They gave no timetable for when they could conclude their inquiry. Officers also noted that no charges were filed to this point and no civil motor vehicle citations were issued either. Police did not say whether the biker wore a helmet while riding.
