According to a news article posted on amny.com, a USPS worker was critically injured when a speeding car collided with the worker’s vehicle. The accident occurred at Avenue L and East 105th Street in Canarsie, Brooklyn, New York. Several other people were also injured in the motor vehicle accident. The news report also asserts that the speeder ran through a stop sign in Brooklyn, causing the collision.
According to the report, the at-fault driver was not injured in the collision that happened at approximately 2:30 p.m. on December 1, 2020. The location of the accident was at the corner of Avenue L and East 105th Street in Canarsie, New York.
Law enforcement officers stated that a grey Mercedes Benz was allegedly speeding northbound on East 105th Street. The at-fault driver struck the USPS worker’s Subaru Forester as the USPS worker was heading east on Avenue L. The collision caused the Subaru to strike a parked Nissan pick-up truck, strike a sidewalk, and then flipped onto its side.
Firefighter and law enforcement officers from the 69th Precinct responded to the accident scene. The wreckage was so bad that it took emergency rescuers 20 minutes to extricate the postal worker out of his Subaru. The USPS worker was transported to Brookdale Hospital. He is listed in critical condition and sustained a severe head injury.
The Mercedes Benz driver remained at the accident scene. Criminal charges are being considered. According to witnesses, the accident could be heard from blocks away.
The NYPD Collision Investigation Squad is investigating the accident.
