According to law enforcement officers quoted on nypost.com, a 26-year-old driver was tragically killed in a three-vehicle accident. The accident was caused by a tire blow out on a BMW SUV in Brooklyn on Wednesday.
The multi-car accident occurred on Grand Street by Manhattan Avenue in Williamsburg at approximately 1:10 in the morning. The fatal accident was also caught on camera. The news report states that the rear right tire on a white BMW X7 SUV blew as the SUV traveled west along Grand Street. The driver, a 30-year-old man, lost control of the SUV, turned into the eastbound lane, and then hit a black Honda Odyssey.
The driver of the black Honda Odyssey, a 26-year-old man, according to law enforcement. The driver then crashed into a red Honda Element driven by a 34-year-old man. Officers responding to the multi-car accident found the man unresponsive with severe personal injuries, and he was transported to Woodhull Medical Center. The man, unfortunately, succumbed to his injuries at the hospital.
The BMW SUV driver, along with his 30-year-old passenger, were transported to the Bellevue Hospital. Each occupant sustained minor injuries, and they were treated and released.
Law enforcement officers are investigating the cause of the accident, and no charges have been filed at this time.
