Verrazzano Narrows bridge accident
According to an online news report posted on silive.com, a serious accident occurred on the Verrazzano-Narrows Bridge during morning rush hour on Wednesday, Dec. 16, 2020.
The accident resulted in a significant traffic jam on the Staten Island Expressway. The accident occurred in the Brooklyn-bound lanes.
Officials with the MTA reported that one lane is blocked along the lower-level of the Brooklyn-bound traffic lanes. MTA asks motorists to use the upper-level as an alternative route and plan for more travel time due to the traffic slowdown.
The number of those injured has not been reported. The accident is currently under investigation by law enforcement.
