Kidney Damage After Taking a Mis-Prescribed Combination of Drugs. A Bay Meadows woman has sued hospital officials in Port Clinton and Fremont, claiming she suffered permanent kidney damage after taking a mis-prescribed combination of drugs.
The lawsuit was filed against Dr. Arun Kumar and Dr. Anita M. Lewis of Community Health Services in Fremont and Dr. George T. Magill and Dr. Scott D. Zgrabic of Magruder Hospital. Both institutions were also sued, along with two drug manufacturers: Dr. Reddy’s Laboratories of Bridgewater, N.J., and Eon Labs Inc. of Laurelton, N.Y.
From July through September, Lanier was treated by Kumar and Lewis for back pain, records indicate. She alleged the doctors prescribed her to take Zestoretic, Celebrex and/or Oxaprozin, records indicate.
drug combination problem
Lanier went to the Magruder Hospital emergency room in November, suffering from flu-like symptoms. She was treated, but the drug combination problem was undetected and problems persisted, according to the lawsuit.
In December, she went to the Firelands Regional Medical Center emergency room — where doctors discovered she had suffered severe and permanent kidney injuries, court reports indicate.
