Global Pharma Healthcare has expanded its recall of artificial eyedrop products due to the possibility those products are contaminated with a drug-resistant strain of Pseudomonas aeruginosa bacteria. The bacteria can cause an infection leading to permanent loss of vision and death. So far, there have been 55 adverse event incidents involving different brands of artificial eye drops spanning thirteen states. Many of those patients were thought to have been using previously recalled EzriCare Artificial Eye Drops, which the same manufacturer produces. One person has been hospitalized, another lost their vision permanently, and another victim tragically died after the infection entered into their bloodstream.
