Elmiron® (pentosan polysulfate sodium) is an oral medication prescribed to treat bladder pain and discomfort caused by interstitial cystitis (IC). Interstitial cystitis (IC) is a recurring malady that causes bladder pressure and pain.

Additional Elmiron® efficacy studies administered following those earlier clinical trials also confirmed that Elmiron® was not more effective than a placebo in the treatment of interstitial cystitis.
