WASHINGTON, D.C. — Efficient Laboratories, the producers of the popular Rompe Pecho flu and common cold medication recalled all three of the varieties of the product over concerns that microbes contaminated the formula. Although Efficient Laboratories declined to identify which specific microbe infected its medication, the company did say that consuming tainted medication can give a person terrible stomach aches, cause vomiting, as well as diarrhea according to the foodpoisoningbulletin.com. Although Efficient Laboratories describes the adverse effects that a person might experience from taking tainted Rompe Pecho as rare, a person could become extremely ill, especially older people, children, and people whose immune systems are compromised.
Efficient Laboratories indicated that the potentially tainted cold and flu medication it recalled voluntarily was one lot each of Rompe Pecho EX, CF, and its MAX liquid. The potentially contaminated Rompe Pecho EX may be identified by lot number 19F332. Lot 19F332 has an expiration date of June 2022. Rompe Pecho CF with lot number 19H359 has an expiration date of August 2022. Finally, the recalled Rompe Pecho MAX with lot number 19B42 will expire in February of 2022. Efficient Laboratories said that distributors, wholesalers, retailers, and consumers might locate the lot number and expiration dates on the bottom of the carton.
Efficient Laboratories distributes Rompe Pecho products nationally. The company instituted a plan to notify the distributors of its products by email. However, some of the contaminated products could have been sold at the retail level. Efficient Laboratories advises consumers to throw the product away in a sealed container so that other items do not become contaminated, or consumers could return the product to the place of purchase for a full refund.
If any person took the potentially contaminated over-the-counter medication and fell ill, they should notify his or her physician immediately. Additionally, adverse events may be reported to the FDA via its MedWatch portal.
