In May 2011, Health Canada announced that Omega Alpha Pharmaceuticals Inc. was voluntarily recalling all lots of Omega Alpha Kidney Flush because of the lack of cautionary and warning statements on the product label. Prior to the recall, ‘Omega Alpha Kidney Flush’ was available at retail locations in Ontario, Québec, British Columbia and Alberta. The product was also available to U.S. consumers through internet retail outlets.
According to the recall notice, the Omega Alpha Kidney Flush recall was issued because of the omission of cautionary and warning statements on the product label. Due to the combination of medicinal ingredients, ‘Omega Alpha Kidney Flush’ is for occasional use only and should not be taken for extended periods of time. It posses a serious risk to breast feeding or pregnant women, and can lead to complications in people who suffer from cardiovascular disease, kidney, high blood pressure, liver or gall bladder disorders, or those with allergies to plants of the Poaceae and/or Asteraceae/Compositae family.
