Yaz and Yasmin lawsuits allege Bayer did not provide adequate warnings
Yaz and Yasmin lawsuits allege Bayer did not provide adequate warnings about the health risks associated with the drugs. In some cases, use of the drugs caused sudden death, plaintiffs claim.
One of those plaintiffs is New Jersey resident Joan Cummins, the mother of Michelle Pfleger, an 18-year-old college student who passed away last year from a pulmonary embolism.
“Her death was so unexpected,” Cummins said. “Once we researched it, we felt very strongly that this was the cause of my daughter’s death, that the embolism was caused by Yaz.”
According to NJ.com, Pfleger decided to ask her doctor about Yaz after seeing advertisements on television touting the drug’s ability to treat mild acne and relieve premenstrual irritability. According to her mother, most of Pfleger’s friends were also using Yaz.
Cummins and other plaintiffs in Yaz and Yasmin lawsuits claim Bayer did not provide adequate warnings about the health risks associated with the drugs.
