Philips Respironics CPAP, BiPAP, and Ventilator Machines Recalled for Potentially Deadly Product Degradation

Philips CPAP, BiPAP, and Ventilator Lawsuits
Those who are using a Philips CPAP or BiPAP for sleep apnea are urged to check their breathing machine to see if the unit is part of the 2 million unit recall.
According to a Food and Drug Administration (FDA) notice, certain Philips breathing machines have a sound-proofing foam degradation problem. As the sound-proofing pad degrades, tiny foam particles may migrate into the breathing tubing and enter into the user’s airway. The announcement states that inhaling these particles could lead to severe injuries such as injuries to internal organs, headaches, asthma, cancer, and fatalities.
The Philips Respironics recall involves the following “institutional-grade” ventilators and personal-use machines used to help sleep apnea patients:
- C-Series ASV
- C-Series S/T and AVAPS
- DreamStation
- DreamStation ASV
- DreamStation Go
- DreamStation ST, AVAPS
- Dorma 400
- Dorma 500
- OmniLab Advanced+
- REMstar SE Auto
- SystemOneASV4
- SystemOne (Q-Series)
Consumers who own one of the aforementioned models are urged to discuss the issue with their healthcare professional about suspending the machine’s use. Consumers are also asked to register their claim with Philips. Philips’ website will guide you through the claims process and show you the location of the product’s serial number. If you or a loved one suffered any health effects or if you lost a loved one, contact Parker Waichman LLP for your free case review.
