According to a press release and safety recall notice from the United States Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC), Kohl’s department stores have initiated a safety recall concerning 500,000 defective candles that can catch fire, causing burn injuries and property damage. The recall affects around 512,000 Sonoma Goods For Life three-wick candles. Incident reports claim the candles have a defect that causes the flame on these candles to reach a height that unsafely causes the candle’s glass to break due to heat, or the flame can ignite the surface of the wax, causing a fire. This defect can result in personal injuries, burns, and property damage.
The recalled Sonoma Goods For Life three-wick candles were sold nationwide at Kohl’s retail locations and also online at Kohls.com. The recalled candles were sold from December 2019 until October 2020 at a price of $20. The recalled candles are housed in glass containers and come with a metal lid. The recalled Sonoma Goods For Life three-wick candle recall affects 30 different fragrances. The model, style number, fragrance, data code, and UPC can be found on the label located at the bottom of the candle’s glass container. For a complete list of the recalled candles, click here.
