Regions Near Radio Tower Had More Leukemia Deaths. Regions near AM radio-broadcasting towers had 70% more leukemia deaths than those without, says a Korean study soon to be published in International Archives of Occupational and Environmental Health.
The Koreans also found cancer deaths were 29% higher near such transmitters, says a Wired News story here, which goes on to say two years ago, Italian researchers concluded that death rates from leukemia “increased dramatically for residents living within two miles of Vatican Radio’s powerful array of transmitters in Rome”.
Politics And Corporate Interest Are Behind Denials
Mary McBride, an epidemiologist at the British Columbia Cancer Agency in Canada has headed a number of similar studies and found no direct link, says Wired.
However, it quotes Seattle’s Sam Milham, an epidemiologist and a pioneer in electromagnetic-field research, as saying, “I’m convinced that politics and corporate interests are behind denials (that say) there are no health effects.”
