BRADENTON, FL – According to Krtv.com, a teenager died in a car crash when another driver went through a red traffic light causing a severe collision.
The man who went through the red light was attempting to flee the scene of an earlier car accident.
The victim was identified as 18-year-old Ms. Mobley, who was traveling south on 27th Street. Both Mobley, and her passenger, Ms. Laws, 18, were ejected from the vehicle. Laws is currently hospitalized in serious condition.
The driver who caused the crash was Adonis Waters, 23, who was driving west on 26th Avenue. Waters was also severely injured in the collision and is reportedly in critical condition at the Blake Medical Center.
Two passengers were in the vehicle with Waters, including a 13-year-old and a 17-year-old. The 13-year-old was transported to Bayfront Medical Center where he is said to be in critical condition. The 17-year-old was taken to the same hospital, but only suffered minor injuries in the crash.
Water’s vehicle’s right front side collided with the left front side of the other vehicle, and then struck a power box and ran into a barbed wire fence. Mobley’s vehicle flipped over and struck a power pole.
The crash is still being investigated, and charges are currently pending in relation to the collision.
Drivers run red lights more often than most people realize. One study indicated that people drive through red traffic lights about once every twenty minutes at per intersection. Similarly, red light cameras have indicated that red lights are violated around 3.2 times an hour.
