FORT MYERS, FL – June 25, 2020 – According to an online news report on SouthCoastToday.com, a Fort Myers, Florida man was tragically killed in a three-vehicle accident that also caused injuries to three other people from Fairhaven, Florida. According to the Florida Highway Patrol, a Fort Myers three-vehicle accident occurred involved a wrong-way driver. The fatal accident is currently under investigation by law enforcement, and according to the Florida Highway Patrol´s accident investigation policy. Also, the new accident policy disallows law enforcement from identifying accident victims until the accident investigation is finished.
According to the accident report, the three-car accident occurred at approximately 11 p.m. on the southbound lanes of Interstate 75 at the Bayshore Road overpass in Fort Myers, Florida. The report states that a car driven by a Fairhaven woman hit a wrong-way driver´s car, causing fatal personal injuries to the wrong-way driver. The male driver who was tragically killed was a 36-year-old man from Fort Myers, Florida. The man was apparently struck when he got out of his pickup truck and stepped in the road on the southbound lanes of I-75 after crashing with a second vehicle that was involved in the pile-up accident.
The accident report states that the 36-year-old man was traveling in his pickup truck on northbound on the southbound lanes of I-75. The man was driving in the wrong direction. A second vehicle, an SUV, was driven by a 44-year-old woman from Lehigh Acres, Florida. The Fairhaven woman was traveling southbound. The front left area of the pickup truck hit the right side of the SUV. The 36-year-old man who was driving the pickup truck left his truck, walked north of his truck, and stayed in the southbound I-75 lanes, according to police. According to law enforcement, the pickup truck driver was pronounced dead at the accident scene. There weren´t any passengers in the pickup truck. The traffic accident report does not include the makes and models of the three motor vehicles involved in the accident.
